The build-up to the final for both teams had been very successful, beating earlier opponents convincingly, leading everyone to expect a very hard fought and tight final match.
Which proved to the case as, in the early part of the match, there wasn't an inch between either side, with some great attacking play, countered by excellent defensive work from both teams and nervous (cold fingers) leading to a few handling errors kept scoring opportunities to a minimum.
As the game progressed and the nerves settled, it was evident that Chosen Hill, captained by their influential fly half George James were increasing in confidence, and slowly they wore down the Sir Thomas Rich's defensive line. And it was from an attack led by James, that Chosen ran in for their first try of the match. Shortly after that, Chosen Hill added a second try, which started a chain reaction of try scoring opportunities for the team in green.
A number of breakaway tries late in the 1st half, racked up the score board for Chosen Hill, only allowing Sir Thomas minimal amounts of possession and their game was now dominated by defensive work. The high strike rate of Chosen Hill proved to be the breaking point for STRS, who were not able to gain any momentum.
The second half was even more successful for the leaders, who managed to find a gap in the Sir Thomas Rich's defensive line on numerous accasions, leaving defenders in their wake, notching up the score on the large Kingsholm score board, bit by bit.
Sir Thomas Rich's continued to battle hard and put up a valiant effort but it was Chosen Hill who proved the much stronger on the day, winning convincingly 38 points to nil.
