Gloucester Rugby Community Department have joined forces with the RAF to deliver a leadership programme to secondary schools across Gloucestershire.
The scheme provides students with team building, communication and coaching skills from a rugby and an RAF angle. The Gloucester Rugby Community coaches deliver a range of coaching sessions aimed at enabling the students to build their confidence in leadership with key elements such as teamwork and problem solving creating a great balance for students to take part in.
Ellie Greatorex Flt Lt OC AFCO Gloucester said, "We are thrilled to be able to work with Gloucester Rugby on this project. The RAF is committed to helping develop youth sport in the local community but this project adds something extra. It enables those involved to develop their leadership and teamwork skills which are an essential part of the RAF ethos."
The scheme has already taken place in Winchcombe School and Pittville School and has proved to be a success with over 40 students getting involved. Those that have taken part are then invited to events throughout the season to extend their leadership skills by taking part in coaching sessions, tournaments, stadium tours and much more.
A further eight schools will benefit from the programme over the coming months, for more information about the programme please contact the Community Department on 0871 871 8781 option 7*
