Meehan's offloading style would suit our play nicely, despite his Bath background I'd have no objections to him coming.

Not so sure about Booth, though - Gloucester have always been a hard team but I fear he'd turn us into the kind of thugs that Irish seem to have become, to their great detriment.

Mixed feelings about Gold and Ford at Bath. I dislike Ford hugely but he does seem to be effective. Still, I hope Bath will become one of those teams like Sarries were for so long - in permanent rebuild/transition mode as they look for and fail to find instant success.

As for Hogg - I'm sorry but I really don't feel he's head coach material.

Brian, based on some of the pack performances this season, it's possible that he's not even forwards coach material! :smt009

P.S. How's the weather over there? Over here it's feels more like late Feb. rather than early May
.
Glad I'm no longer able to play Cricket - minimum 3 sweater weather.

And if anybody asks me to Umpire.............. :smt009 :smt009 :smt009 :smt003

Hope the Booth rumour is just that, a rumour - as Brian has suggested, he has coached thuggery at Reading - without winning anything - and literally anyone would be preferable to him in my opinion.

If Ashton is a definite no, then Dean Richards is still the best option for me, assuming he can get out of other commitments. I still like the idea of Tofty and Duggie being in the management team - both have grown up in the culture of the club - and I'm warming (slightly!) to the idea of Meehan. Whoever is announced as the new management team, I hope we can get two more nasty front five forwards during the close season - I think we are only that far away from a really good team that could challenge for meaningful honours (Premiership title / Heinekin Cup) over the next few years, which, let's face it, are the competitions that matter.

Another refugee (come on Bob get your act together.)

There's a lot of talk about the importance of experience. I've no idea about the respective duties of MD, DOR and Coach, but when we appointed PSA he had no experience. It might have been a bumpy ride but it was a great one.

As far as recent times are concerned, look at Ulster. Their great fly half David Humphreys is now DOR and they ain't doing too bad.

Times also says Carl Hogg wants the Gloucester job.

This is the man that has just picked Tom Voyce to play full back today, a position Voyce hates. Out on the wing ...YES but at full back... NO. Will lessons ever be learnt???

Now lets look at what Mr Hogg has achieved as forwards coach, IMHO it has been the collapse of the fowards that has let to the run of 5 defeats and possibly six by tonight.

If the board don't clean out all the old scottish coaching staff it will be a big mistake, and I will not be renewing my season tickets for 2012/13 if that is the case. Carl Hogg inspitational, not in my book!

The Tweeter is making all the right noises. Will be interesting who he is speaking too? Surely the fact that he is going down under would suggest no-brainer. Surely you wouldn't publicise that you are going on a jolly to Oz only to appoint the man in the office next to you?

Lets hope he finds the right man. Any guesses about the shortlist?

interesting rumours from TiG:

"Gloucester's rugby operations manager John Brain and acting head coach Carl Hogg will be interviewed for the top Kingsholm roles.

Several high-profile and highly experienced coaches had offered their services as consultants – but Walkinshaw has ruled out any such move.

Brian Ashton and Wayne Smith are thought to be among those to offer short-term aid, but Gloucester do not feel the Kingsholm squad will benefit from intermittent coaching."

wouldnt of said no to ashton or smith in the short term...

It is only right that they are being interviewed as they are insiders. One can only hope that they will get no further. That said, my bank balance will look a helluva lot better if they do :smt040

it will be interesting which coaches he sees down under!!!!!

"The applications have come in from various time zones, and from both hemisphere, which has afforded Walkinshaw the opportunity to combine a pre planned business trip to Australia with a chance to talk to several candidates face to face."

what we need is a warren gattling.............. took wasps to the top and wales grand slam......

someone who can talk to players and players have confidence and respect in what he coaches...

So this is where the gang is hiding!! The new fitness guru is quoted as saying he gets on well with all the coaches - does he know something we don't??

I'll nail my colours to the mast.

I've never met any of the candidates and have no contact with the management. But it seems to me the only decision they can make is to appoint Brainer and Hoggy,

Brainer has negotiated all nine new contracts and Hoggy represents continuity. It would be madness to insert a new boss into this delicate situation. How will Jimmy Cowan, Ben Morgan, Billy Twelvetrees, feel faced with an entirely different boss to the one they have dealt with?

Hoggy represents continuity.

I was looking in vain for your smiley. Do you mean the continuity of our string of losses, or the slide from third last season to ninth this one?

As mentioned on Rugby Club last night.
3 points from a possible 30 in the last six games is just a joke.
We need this sorted, and sorted now.
I dont know who is the best candidate but the more it drifts the more likely that the whole thing is turning into a worse farce than it already is.
