He came into this season having played a huge part in England U20s success during the summer when they were victorious in the Junior World Championship. His fine form was rewarded recently, as Kingsholm coaches moved fast to secure the 20 year old's services with a new contract.
With England understandably looking to the future ahead of the World Cup in 2015, the call up is well deserved for Stooke who has impressed coaches at Gloucester Rugby, and has played a key part in recent weeks as the Cherry and Whites seek to finish the season strongly.
Highly regarded by second row partner James Hudson, Stooke has joined up with the England Saxons as they meet up at Loughborough University ahead of Saturday's clash with the O2 Irish Wolfhounds at Kingsholm Stadium (5pm Kick Off)
Stooke spoke to the club website on the return from yesterday's victory in Perpignan and said:
"I'm buzzing, I got the call out of the blue, but it'll be a great honour to be involved for my country. It's also at the home of my club which makes it extra special. I'm looking forward to joining up with a talented, exciting squad and trying to contribute where I can."
