Trailing 26-7 at half time Buxton must have said something effective, as Jack Spencer, Tom Lushington, and Will Hayward added to Lloyd Evans' first-half try to complete a 34-26 win.
The performance left Buxton purring after the final whistle and he is excited to continue developing an encouraging squad of all-rounders. Speaking to PremiershipRugby.com, Buxton was thrilled with his side's maturity.
"We've got a real mature group of players who are tactically very knowledgeable.
"We want 15 decision makers on the field and 15 guys to work with each other, make decisions and change matches - that's what they did today.
"We try to play ambitious rugby and try to dominate collisions and we did that today. We want players that are happy to defend anywhere on the field and I think a lot of that came during this game."
However, Buxton was not too concerned with the win which saw Gloucester finish 5th overall after a third place finish in the Northern Conference - instead focusing on the performance of his teenage upstarts.
"Performance is most important, as it has been all the way through," he added. "It's important for us to watch as may players as possible.
"We are in this competition to find out who are the best players and, if we can put them forward to professional contracts, they will represent Gloucester in the next few years.
"It's great to see how players react to a pressure environment. They want to win and I think it's great for them to have that and to work together to analyse themselves and each other and come up with game pans and understand where they can get better."
