"Provide a high quality, individualised, player development experience, encouraging lifelong participation in the game and enabling those with talent to be clearly identified."
The Developing Player Programme (DPP) has been specifically designed to allow a greater number of players from U13-U15 the opportunity to receive added support with their rugby development.
Each season clubs and schools are given 3 nominations per age group and asked to put forward players who they believe have the potential technical, tactical, mental or physical attributes that makes them stand out from the rest of their team.
At U13 and U14 age groups the programme is inclusive to all players nominated and they stay within the programme from start to finish within that season. Players are invited to complete a 12 week development programme based on three core areas; Functional Movement, Core Skills & Game Understanding, along with festivals and development days.
The U15 DPP starts with a two stage trial process where a squad of 45 are chosen to be a part of the development programme. From this, an EPDG squad is chosen for the remainder of the season.
Players who do not make the transition from DPP to EPDG are given individual feedback and support to help their development outside of the programme.
