Gloucester are, of course, the current holders of the LV= Cup and need a win to maintain any chance of making the semi finals having a record of one win from their two matches so far.
The Blues, meanwhile, have made a less than stellar start to the competition having lost 33-3 away to the Newcastle Falcons and 30-3 at home to the Scarlets.
The two teams are no strangers to each other in this competition.
They met at Twickenham in the final in April 2009 where the Welsh region shattered Gloucester's dreams with a 50 points to 12 victory.
2009-10 saw the teams play each other again, bizarrely in the pool stages and also in the semi final.
A Ceri Sweeney penalty with the last kick of the match saw the Blues edge a tight encounter at Kingsholm by 26 points to 25 but Gloucester got their own back just four months later in the semi final at Cardiff City Stadium.
Freddie Burns scored a crucial interception try just before the half time whistle with the home time holding on to a 10-3 lead until that point.
The second half saw Gloucester take control and James Simpson-Daniel scored a second half hat trick to ease Gloucester to a 29-18 win.
There are some great ticket offers for this fixture with kids able to watch the game from just £3 and adults from only £8.
