Former Gloucester players Mark Foster and Haydn Thomas both featured in the Chiefs' starting line up whilst Jack Adams, Mark Irish and James Merriman were in the Bristol matchday squad.
In front of their home crowd, Bristol were looking to overcome a three point deficit from the first leg but Exeter adapted better to the wet conditions on the night and were worthy winners.
It means that Exeter will line up in the Premiership next season for the first time in their history and Gloucester will face a trip to a new stadium, down at Sandy Park.
