A product of the Worcester Academy, Cox made his England Under 19 debut as a 17 year old in 2006 before going on to help his country win the Home Unions Under 18s tournament.
He then appeared at open side for England in the successful 2008 U20 Six Nations campaign, starting all five games and scoring two tries, was part of the Junior World Cup squad that same year and has also played England Sevens.
Able to play across the back row, Head Coach Bryan Redpath explained that he's been tracking Cox for some time:
"I first met Matt a couple of years ago and he's always been on our radar as one of the best young back row forwards coming through. He came on on Saturday and made an impression on the game with his physicality.
"Matt will challenge our group and the people who are in there. Youth can be good.
"He's a lineout forward, he's mobile and he's a dog. And I like that. People who are willing to front up, fight and put themselves in the mix."
