The 29 year old, who arrived at Kingsholm for the 2006-7 season, will make his 21stappearance for his country on Saturday and feels he is hugely honoured to be captaining his country.
"I have huge delight and I am honoured to be given the opportunity and it's one that I hope to make the most of."
"With every international and with most games that I play, there is obviously a huge level of support from within my family."
"But I think Saturday will be extra special, leading Scotland out will be a proud moment for everybody and one I am really looking forward to."
"I have had to work really hard with the competition at scrum half within the Scottish ranks to get an opportunity to start and with that, the captaincy just adds that extra little bit."
