"The Shogun Bar offers up a unique challenge as it needs to represent a welcoming, interesting environment for the first hundred fans that turn up but it also has to cope with 800-1000 supporters all wanting to get their pre-match or half time pint.
Whilst it can never be a cosy lounge type bar because of the volumes of drink served at peak times, it was clear from supporter feedback that was not as welcoming as it could be.
To improve this, we have installed heating units, bar style furniture and the walls have covered with great moments in Gloucester history.
We hope fans like the changes and we would encourage them to come down to add to the pre and post-match buzz around the ground that Kingsholm has been famous for."
Pete continued:
"We have also looked at the entertainment options both pre and post-match. Starting from this Saturday against Leeds, we will hold pre-match interviews with both current and past players and members of the coaching staff.
"Post-match we are offering live music at one end of the bar and open this weekend with a fantastic tribute to Elvis and Tom Jones.
"At the other end of the bar, more TV screens have been installed which means for we are able to play all matches back shortly after the final whistle. Fans can relive the tries, tackles and refereeing decisions from the match they have just witnessed live."
The club has looked carefully at prices of drinks and after comparing ourselves with other clubs and events have decided to hold price for the 4th season in a row. With a definite VAT rise in January and rises in duty likely the club will absorb any rises and guarantee these prices for the whole season.
From the Leeds match this Saturday we will be providing an enhanced food offering in the South Stand with some fan favourites like chilli and rice and curry available. Fans will also be able to purchase a pasty and a pint for £5.
Real ales will also be served in the Shogun bar for first time. Worthington's have developed a cask conditioned ale to compliment the Kingsholm Ale currently available in bottles. Kingsholm Thirst XV as it will be known, will be served direct from the keg and will be sold on a 'when it's gone it's gone' basis.
To encourage supporters to experience the new improvements and by way of a thank you, all season ticket holders have been offered a free pint in their discount booklet which can be redeemed at any match of the season, an hour before kick off.
