Counties, of course, hit the headlines last week following the return of All Black legend Tana Umaga from RC Toulon as the new Counties Manukau player and assistant coach.
Shaun has been named in the Wider Training Group for the Counties Manakau Steelers squad for the 2010 ITM Cup, a tournament featuring 14 teams, which runs from the end of July to the start of November.
Gloucester Rugby's Academy Manager Mark Cornwell told the club website that Knight's stay in New Zealand is a huge opportunity.
"Shaun's a great prospect and has made great strides over the past year or so. But there's no better place to learn your rugby than on one of the hotbeds of New Zealand rugby."
"Counties have produced some great players over the years, Jonah Lomu for example, and it's a great opportunity for Shaun to develop as a player."
