Shaun has been named in the Wider Training Group for the Counties Manakau Steelers squad for the 2010 ITM Cup, a tournament featuring 14 teams, which runs from the end of July to the start of November.
Counties had a preseason hit out at Auckland this week and managed an impressive 33-33 draw having trailed 33-14 at half time.
Tana Umaga was the man who made all the headlines but Shaun started on the bench and impressed when he took the field for the second half.
Adam Newman, Team Manager for the Counties Manukau Steelers, told the Gloucester Rugby website:
"Shaun played the second half of our pre-season fixture against Auckland. He went well and is certainly impressing a number of people with his on field performances, training ethic and overall contribution to the team environment."
"While it was only a pre-season fixture, Shaun certainly performed well and did what was required as a replacement tight head prop. Scrummed well and had a good number of strong ball carries."
