Former Harlequins and Padova centre Rob Jewell is also in squad. He is one of 11 changes to the squad since the Students were defeated 23-6 by France at La Roche Sur Yon last month.
But there is still plenty of exciting talent on show at Iffley Road, Oxford, on Friday evening (6pm).
Several players step up from the England Universities side - including wing Joseph Ajuwa, Tom Lawy, Alex Hayman and Simon Lovegrove.
Manager Tony Lanaway said: "We've had some withdrawals from clubs with relegation and promotion issues. One of the downsides of being a successful student player is that you have to balance the demands of the two.
"But that means the door has opened for young men to come through and stake a claim against what will be mature Italy side and it underlines the value of having an England University side from which we can draw."
The Students also have a defeat to avenge after conceding a try in injury time to lose last year's game 25-21 in Telese.
