Commenting on www.gloucesterrugbyclub.com Simpson-Daniel was determined to state this wasn't a set-back and said: "I want to make it clear that this is not a set-back. I will miss Saturday's game and that's disappointing, but I've just got some more rehabilitation work to do.
"Someone else will take my place against Bristol, and over the next few days I've got to get into that rehab work and get back playing.
"I've said to Nigel (Melville) I want to be back playing and that means if everything goes well this week, I can target the Worcester game next weekend (29 Jan) for a return."
Simpson-Daniel first injured the shoulder against Cardiff Blues back in December, and returned to Gloucester first team action, completing the full 80 minutes, in Sunday's match against Stade Francais.
The left winger met up with the England set-up this week, and following consultation between both Gloucester and Andy Robinson's management team, will undergo further rehabilitation that rules him out of the West Country derby cup clash.
