Upon installation of the free app, users can "like" a match which simply allows them to view other friends who are attending or chat with any other Scrumble users about the game; it also provides all the details on the game including venue and ticket details.
Fans can also 'start a Scrumble' to invite a group of friends to attend the match and then organise a meeting time and place, purchase their tickets, as well as discuss the game, vote on who will score the first try and most importantly determine who will buy the first round of drinks!
The application simplifies planning a day at the rugby by holding all the organisation in a single place on a common platform and so eliminating the need for multiple lines of communication.
James Tyler, Marketing Manager at Premiership Rugby said:
"We think this is a great way for supporters of all our clubs to use social media to share thoughts and experiences around Aviva Premiership Rugby. It allows them to plan their day and chat to each other about upcoming games, building the sense of anticipation and contributing to an even better day out when they get to the match."
Further developments are planned as Premiership Rugby seeks to encourage more fans to get the most out of Aviva Premiership Rugby matches.
The app was devised by Premiership Rugby's creative marketing agency, Breakfast. The London-based agency is known for their innovative work with social media applications in sport, having also built apps for Guinness and, this summer, for the ECB.
The app is currently in beta testing and will be available to the wider public towards the end of the Aviva Premiership Rugby season.
