Col Andy Allen, Director of senior Army rugby, was understandably delighted with the Army's crowning glory and is looking forward to their date at Kingsholm.
"We always say we are soldiers first, sportsmen second and that really is put into perspective when we prepare for games as friends and comrades are doing their day jobs - I am sure one or two will quietly shed a tear because the support they get has been exceptional," he said.
"Playing for the Combined Services for these guys is the pinnacle of their forces rugby career and playing at Kingsholm will be second to none.
"It's a huge honour to be asked to play at Kingsholm and it is something we are all looking forward to."
Ball is a second row forward while Cummings is a free-running full-back who was instrumental in their Defence Force World Cup success and was named player of the tournament.
"The pool games were in Australia and then we went to New Zealand for the knockout stages," Allen said. "The semi-final against Tonga was the hardest game and they were winning 10-9 until the closing stages but by the time of the final we were very relaxed and just blew Australia away.
"We were very clinical and played some great rugby."
The Combined Services side will be coached by Steve Worrell at Kingsholm and also feature coach Andy Sanger, who has completed a remarkable job over the two year period he has been involved, taking the Army to victory over the Navy at Twickenham and winning the World Cup with the Defence Force.
"He is probably the only man ever to win a World Cup in both league and union and the game at Kingsholm will be a fitting accolade," Allen added.
