Gloucester Rugby's Managing Director Ken Nottage nominated Ford for the Outstanding Service to Sport category in Gloucestershire Media's Sports Awards.
Ford made 506 appearances for Gloucester, scoring 146 tries, represented Gloucestershire 46 times, won four caps for England and sported the famed Barbarians shirt on three occasions.
Now a Gloucester club ambassador, Ford has taken turns at fixture secretary, team secretary, selectors chairman, club trustee, chairman and president.
Meanwhile, Sharples, who won his first England cap in the summer as well as signing a new contract with the club, is nominated for the Sports Personality Award.
