In its former existence as the EDF Energy Cup, Gloucester clinched a place in the final in 2008-9 following a superb semi final win over the Ospreys only to fall at the final hurdle with a defeat against the Cardiff Blues at Twickenham.
2009-10 also saw Gloucester return to the final, this time in its new format as the LV= Cup. They topped their pool with a memorable comeback win at the Stoop over Harlequins and gained some measure of revenge over the Blues in the semi final. However Northampton Saints were just too strong in the final and edged a classic game.
However, Gloucester finally lifted the trophy in 2010-11 with a 34-7 win over the Newcastle Falcons at Franklin's Gardens amidst scenes of great jubilation amongst the hordes of Cherry and White clad followers.
