There was representation from eight teams from the Gloucester and the Forest combinations which led to some fantastic rugby for the crowds to enjoy.
Dave Auker-Howlett from Drybrook said:
"I would like to thank Gloucester Rugby and its community staff for running the U19s RFU Choose Rugby tournament and also the referees for their hard work.
"The most important point to the event in my mind was to encourage young players to stay in the game which is hard to achieve at the U19 level. With this U19s sevens being part of the rugby calender along with the GRFU U18 league, the future for retaining players looks more encouraging."
Don Parsons the Rugby Development Officer for the area said:
"We wanted to put on an event in the pre-season for the local clubs at Kingsholm Stadium and my thanks go to Gloucester Rugby for hosting such a great event.
"Having spoken to a number of parents and coaches one mothers comment was; 'it's awonderful opportunity for these young players to play at Kingsholm! It's a once in a life time experience."
The evening culminated with Matson winning the Cup competition against Hucclecote and the plate competition was won by Chosen Hill RFC and the runners up were Drybrook RFC.
Congratulations to all that too part!
Plans are already taking place to run the event next season. For further information please contact cdp@gloucesterrugby.co.uk
