Gloucester Rugby have competed at the highest level of English club rugby since the game of rugby union went professional.
Playing their home games at Kingsholm, the team enjoy terrific, partisan support and are a popular venue for journalists who enjoy both the matchday experience and the superb media facilities.
The club enjoyed a memorable 2010-11 campaign, winning the LV= Cup and finishing third in the Aviva Premiership table.
Increased media focus now means that an extra pair of hands is required on matchday to help maintain and improve the current level of coverage provided.
The role will focus primarily on recording, editing and publishing post match video interviews but there may also be opportunities to contribute written articles such as match reports and/ or co-ordinate interview requests.
The role would suit a local broadcast journalism student or recent undergraduate looking to gain experience within the sports PR / Marketing industry.
Duties would include:
• Filing, editing and publishing post match interviews with Gloucester Rugby players, coaches and possibly supporters.
• Assisting the Media Manager with the co-ordination and delivery of post match press conference and interview requests.
• Contributing to match reports, editing match photos etc
• General administration
The suitable candidate will possess a knowledge of filming techniques and ability to use video editing software, excellent communication skills, a good eye for detail and have the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Therefore, experience in journalism and/or producing multimedia items would be beneficial.
Knowledge of Gloucester Rugby and rugby union in general is preferable, but not essential. Please note that this role will involve working at weekends and some unsocial hours.
