On a day to day basis, Cornwell will continue to oversee the running of the Academy which has enjoyed such success in recent times.
In fact, only last month it was announced that eight of last year's Academy have 'graduated' onto senior contracts for 2009-10.
However, this season will see his role expand as he assists Carl Hogg with the coaching of the first XV forwards and also undertakes the management of certain first XV management tasks.
Cornwell told the club website today that he's looking forward to the additional responsibilities.
"I've hugely enjoyed my role with the Academy to date and remain fully committed to those responsibilities."
"However, the opportunity to work with Carl and more closely with the first XV is is something that I can't afford to turn down."
"I will be more involved with the first XV training schedules and also working with the rest of the management team on matchdays."
"It's an evolution of my role, something I'm looking forward to and I intend to make the most of the opportunity."
