"I haven't taken on this job for fun," said Cornwell, who is also Gloucester's Academy Manager.
"I have taken on this coaching job to win this tournament and so far we are on the right track.
"Considering we only had three training sessions before our first match I was surprised that we clicked from the first whistle against Somerset but the lads did well. They put on a powerful performance, dominated by our pack and I am looking for more of the same this weekend."
Kingsholm provides the backdrop for Gloucestershire's second Bill Beaumont Cup clash against Devon this Sunday, and it could be a memorable return for several squad members who have worn the famous 'Cherry & White' jersey in the past, including Cornwell, Paul and Dave Knight and Paul Williams.
"We wanted to play at Kingsholm for a very good reason," added Cornwell.
"The people of Gloucestershire are passionate about their rugby so I hope they'll come and support the county at Kingsholm, which in turn should provide the players with a great atmosphere and really motivate them. Devon are a side steeped in glory in this tournament so that can only help us."
