"I'm genuinely excited. I've had a few weeks off since the end of the season but I've carried on working on my personal fitness and I can't wait to start."
"I want to make an impression but I'm also aware that I can learn so much from working with the likes of Greg Somerville. It's a great opportunity and I'm determined to make the most of it."
Having started out at Wellington College, Doran-Jones explained that he's enjoyed a cosmopolitan rugby career to date.
"When I left Wellington, I wanted to continue my academic career and went to Trinity College in Dublin and from there was drafted into the Leinster set up."
"I also spent some time in Kings Country in Waikato which was an incredible experience and I learned a lot out there."
However, the 24 year old feels it was his time in National League Division One with London Welsh that has been most beneficial.
"What I really needed was to be getting regular game time at a decent level and I didn't think that was going to happen at Leinster."
"At London Welsh, I was coming up against some really experienced props. Guys like Tom Smith and Chris Budgen who know all the tricks of the trade. It was a great learning curve."
"It was tough at first but, as my experience grew, I started to hold my own and then start to get the better of my opponents. It was just what I needed."
And, with that experience under his belt, the former Ireland U19 and U21 international now feels ready to make the next step up.
Doran-Jones said today that he'd had offers to join other clubs but had been so impressed with the Kingshom set up that it had been an easy decision.
"I did have other options but I met up with Dean Ryan and Carl Hogg and what they had to say about investing in youth and developing me as a player really struck a chord."
"I'd also never visited Kingsholm and I got an awesome feeling from the stadium and the city. There's so much pride and tradition there but also so much potential."
"I really wanted to be a part of that. It's a bit of a cliche but it's a dream come true."
