Hartpury kicked off Saturday's trio of cup finals with an entertaining 41-31 victory over South West One side Clifton RFC.
Hartpury added the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup to add to the Junior Vase (2007) and Senior Vase (2008) successes and May could barely conceal his delight after the game:
"It's probably the best day of my life," said May, from Wootton Bassett. "But it was a great team effort and it's credit to the way Hartpury play that they encourage ball in hand."
Following Hartpury's success, Moseley defied the bookmakers and added Leeds Carnegie to their list of cup scalps as they lifted the EDF Energy National Trophy.
And, once again, players with Kingsholm connections played key roles. Thanks to the dual registration regulations, several Gloucester Rugby players featured in Moseley's win.
Dan Norton scored a first half try, Jack Adams put Andy Binns in for a try and Tristan Roberts contributed 10 points from the point.
Also on duty were Henry Trinder, Jordi Pasqualin (a second half replacement) and a blast from the past in the shape of prop Terry Sigley.
And the Gloucester link wasn't confined to the pitch with the Moseley management team featuring former Kingsholm favourites in Ian Smith and Dan Caskie.
