TV sports fans who enjoy their action with even more of a rough-and-tumble will lap up both Mixed Martial Arts and bruising bouts from the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The live action kicks off - quite literally - on Friday night (7.30pm) with a top-class Bundesliga clash between Hoffenheim and FC Schalke. Or, to put it another way, a team which were a non-League outfit a decade ago versus German football coaching's sharpest tactical mind; Schalke 'super-boss' Felix Magath. The remainder of Friday evening's schedule surrenders to the UFC; and gives UK fight fans the chance to see ESPN's new UFC: Best of British series.
Saturday sets the scene for a selection of sporting super-teams; with Glasgow Rangers, Leicester Tigers, AC Milan and Bayern Munich all engaged in top-flight action. Intriguingly, a trio of them face matches against unfancied underdogs.
Rangers start the ball rolling with a tricky SPL trip to Hamilton (KO 11.30am), before the Leicester Tigers later play host to the newly-promoted Exeter Chiefs at 4.45pm in a must-see Aviva Premiership match.
A double-bill of European football rounds out an exhilarating evening, firstly at AC Milan - where Robinho might just make his debut, against unpredictable Cesena - and then Bayern Munich, who face worthy Bundesliga opponents in Werder Bremen.
Sunday's busy schedule provides the ideal hangover cure for armchair sports fans, with further Serie A action at 11.30am - between Brescia and Palermo - followed by a must-see Aviva Premiership match which pits Saracens against Sale in a top-of-the-table crunch clash.
Tea-time takes ESPN viewers back to Germany for Cologne v St. Pauli, whilst, finally for football fans, Napoli complete Sunday's football schedule with an attractive Serie A home match against Bari.
The see-it-all-free-for-all free weekend schedule ends with an entirely appropriate bang, with three back-to-back episodes of the UFC's hugely popular 'Fight Of The Night' series.
Phew! So that, in short, is ESPN's free-to-view schedule for this weekend. Pretty generous, wouldn't you say? Enjoy.
