Young United side open with heavy defeat
A youthful Gloucester United side, hit by a number of late withdrawals, slipped to a 50-3 defeat at Saracens in their A League opener on Monday evening.
Facing a Saracens A side which was giving a run out to a number of first teamers, the Gloucester side were subjected to a Saracens kicking game which forced them back to wait for mistakes.
Gloucester's only points of the evening came from a Mike Wilcox penalty.
Gloucester never gave up with Paul Doran-Jones scrummaging well and Marcus Brown scrapping for everything on the deck.
Gloucester will play their first home A League game at Kingsholm against London Wasps next Monday evening (September 14th), kick off 7:30pm.

Gloucester's final game of the season ended in a narrow defeat in a pulsating encounter at the Exeter Chiefs. The Cherry and Whites went down 40-39, as Gareth Steenson's dramatic late penalty meant that the end of Director of Rugby Nigel Davies' first season in charge ended in defeat. Davies spoke to the official website in the Devon sunshine.
