However, Hamilton dismissed any thoughts that Irish would be at anything less than their best on their home patch and smarting from an opening round defeat in the London Double Header last weekend.
"They've got some injuries but they've also got an awful lot of good players. We know Scott Lawson very well of course and he's a fantastic player.
"Bryn Evans is the captain, they've got George Skivington from Leicester and then threats out wide like Tom Homer, Jonathan Joseph and Topsy Ojo. It's a long list of very good players."
There's complete respect for the Exiles but Hamilton explained that Gloucester, for all that, would prefer to focus on themselves.
"Nigel (Davies) has put a very simple game plan in place and it's up to us as players to deliver it.
"It's not difficult but it's about having that little bit of confidence. We were better in the second 40 minutes against Northampton, but confidence comes from winning games of rugby and that's what we're setting out to do."
