Spence was a centre for Ulster Rugby and represented the Ireland U20 and Irish Wolfhounds sides. He also appeared for Ireland in the fixture against the Barbarians at Kingsholm back in May.

"I am sure you all, like me, would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Spence family after the tragic accident last weekend.
"There are no words to that can truly convey the sadness of their loss, but our thoughts are with them and with Ulster Rugby as we pay our respects through a minute's silence before today's game - something which puts all we do into real perspective."
