The presentation covered the 3 main topic areas of Anti-Doping, Nutrition and Hydration, and Educational Opportunities.
The evening was headlined by three top quality guest speakers:
Stephen Watkins - the RFU Anti-Doping Officer,
Keith Gee - the RFU Educational Advisor,
Eamonn Hyland - the Gloucester Rugby Academy Head of Strength and Conditioning.
Nigel Gillingham from the GRFU who hosted the event said:
"I am pleased with the response from players and their parents with nearly 200 people in attendance.
"It helps us to deliver these key messages which are intended to guide these young players allowing them and their parents to make informed choices at this important stage in their lives".
Gloucester Academy Manager Andrew Stanley wrapped up the evening by thanking all for their attendance, and reinforcing the messages set out by the presenters.
"It is important that we holistically develop young players within our Junior Academy System, to help them progress not only as sportsmen, but as people.
"There are a lot of young players throughout Gloucestershire who hold the ambition of wearing the Cherry and White Shirt, but they must all understand the hard work that is involved with becoming a professional sportsman, and that there are no short cuts.
"Keith's educational messages also holds great value, as options outside of rugby are necessary, even for the players who are lucky enough to make it into professional rugby, as it does not last forever."
Gloucester Rugby would like to say a special thank you to Keith, Stephen, Nigel and the GRFU for supporting the event and commitment to rugby in the area.
