"What comes first for me is Gloucester, and we're sending a team down there that gives some young players opportunities too - but it's a team we're fully confident can win the game.
"The only way for our young players to make the grade is for them to gain the experience of competitive fixtures, at the top level.
"So this competition is fantastic in that respect, because it's a chance for us to mix things up a little bit - but give young players chances to come into the team alongside some very experienced hands too."
Meanwhile, back to Sam. How will Davies feel if Sam does feature against Gloucester?
"I might trip him up as he runs onto the pitch!
"In all seriousness though I hope he comes on and plays well - but I hope Gloucester win far more than that.
"I'm totally focused on Gloucester winning, and that's what I want above all else from the game. The Gloucester result has to come first, there's no doubt about that.
"If he comes on and plays well - and Gloucester win - that would be the ideal scenario.
"But there's no time to dwell on any of that, we've got a job to do and that's to go there and win the game."
