He travelled to Bordeaux to watch Gloucester in action in round five of the pool stages, and made a point of talking to as many of the travelling supporters as possible.
"It was my first opportunity to watch us on the road in Europe, and I was struck by just how many Gloucester supporters were out there, and how passionately they backed the team.
"They also told me how much it would mean to them to have a big quarter final at home, and I think that Biarritz ticks that box."
Tickets went on sale last week, and Vaughan stresses that the club have tried to price the tickets competitively to try and ensure a big crowd which will, of course, benefit Nigel Davies and the team hugely.
"We've done our best to reward our loyal season ticket holders by giving them an extra £5 off the matchday ticket price, in addition to the early bird price. That's a £9 discount if they purchase in good time.
He also confirmed that the club have listened to feedback from supporters and priced U15s tickets fairly.
"It's going to be a great occasion. It'll be my first taste of a European quarter final and could be a magical night for our younger fans.
"With that in mind, U15s can watch from the West Terrace or The Shed for only £1 if they buy in advance. It'd be fantastic to see a lot of young faces in those areas, supporting us on the night."
