Stuart Lancaster gave a medical update at a media session on Monday afternoon, and admitted that the 23 year old is a doubt for Dublin.
"Ben is still in a boot," Lancaster said. "The last prognosis is that he will struggle to be available for the weekend, I'll know definitely tomorrow."
Freddie Burns, who was ruled out of the Scotland game with a knee injury suffered against Mont-de-Marsan in the Amlin Challenge Cup, has reported back to the England camp for assessment having spent last week back with Gloucester for treatment.
Meanwhile, Billy Twelvetrees, who capped a fine performance with a try on his debut against the Scots, has given Lancaster a dilemma as Manu Tuilagi returns to training.
"There are selection decisions across the field and that's one of them. Billy played well and Brad Barrett's contribution as always was positive," Lancaster said.
"But Manu brings a unique set of skills and attributes to the game and the team, as we saw in his performance against the All Blacks."
