Identified as playing a crucial role in the development of professional players, the LV= Cup has continued to identify up and coming young talent but this time, it was in the form of rugby writers.
The LV= Young Reporter Competition invited youngsters under the age of 16 to submit a 200 word review of any LV= Round 4 fixture, with the winner receiving four VIP tickets to the LV= Cup Final, as well as an opportunity to interview LV= Ambassador and former England captain, Lewis Moody.
The panel, comprising of representatives from the Rugby Football Union, LV=, Premiership Rugby, and a national rugby journalist, reviewed all the entries and chose Sam as the overall winner along with two runners-up.
Sam chose to report on the West Country derby between Gloucester Rugby v Bath Rugby, which saw the visitors record a 32-5 win over the Cherry & Whites, which was their first win at Kingsholm since 2006.
The panel was unanimous in selecting Sam as the overall winner, commenting on his accurate and descriptive portrayal of the LV= Round 4 game.
As well as interviewing Lewis Moody on the day, in an interview that was shown on the big screens at half time, Sam also wrote a match report for the LV= website.
Needless to say, we're all very proud of him!
