Twenty four aspiring rugby players, some from as far away as Canada and China joined Gloucester Rugby Community coaches Simon Monahan, Terry Fanolua and Simon Lane, Gloucester Rugby Assistant Academy Manager, for a week of intensive rugby coaching and marine activities.
Not only did participants enrol on the camp for the opportunity to benefit from some professional rugby coaching, they also recieved the full Royal Marine experience.
A once in a lifetime experience, each player got the opportunity to live on site at the Barracks for a week alongside Royal Marines, under the watchful eye of C.Sgt Williams and his drill sergeants.
Over the course of the five days each player was pushed to both their physical and mental limits as C.Sgt. Williams lead them through the rigorous marine assault course and various other Marine activities each day.
Community Rugby manager Simon Monahan said,
"Right from the start of the week there was fantastic atmosphere between the group, and all the players involved worked incredibly hard. Their determination and teamwork, was incredible, and by the end of the week the camaraderie between the players was just fantastic!"
Both the Royal Marines and Gloucester Rugby coaches pushed the players to their limits and the players left the barracks smiling and with a wealth of experience.
