For others it can mean a daily struggle to survive and put food on the table. There is a growing network of food banks across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire & Herefordshire who work with local organisations, to provide cans and other provisions to families and individuals who are in difficult circumstances.
'Together we CAN' make a difference. On Friday 22nd February at 7:45pm, Gloucester Rugby host Worcester Rugby at Kingsholm and we need YOU to come along and bring a can of food to donate to the three counties food banks.
Gloucester Rugby's partners Downtons and Food Bank volunteers will be waiting outside the main entrance with pallets ready to be filled with cans of food for people who urgently need our help!
Cans of food in all shapes and sizes will be gratefully received, but please be mindful that items with short use by dates may not be distributed in time. Items desperately needed include canned vegetables, canned fish, canned meat and canned puddings. Packets of pasta and rice would also be gratefully received.
One of the organisations showing their support is allpay, the UK's leading bill payments specialist, based in Hereford. allpay will be holding a 'Together we CAN' day on Friday 22nd February and inviting every one of their 250 staff to donate a can for the local food bank in Herefordshire.
allpay sponsor Gloucester Rugby and are keen to support initiatives such as this as part of their corporate social responsibility policy; to make the impossible possible for everyone, through social, financial and digital inclusion.
Downtons, who also sponsor Gloucester Rugby, will be collecting and storing all of the cans collected from the appeal and then distributing them to the three food banks using their logistics network.
We would also like to thank our friends at Worcester Warriors Community Department for helping to spread the word.
