One of three players to join from Edinburgh, the prop is a tremendous ball carrier.
He made his Scotland debut against New Zealand at RWC 2007 and has gone on to feature regularly since.
The 23-year-old plays on the loose-head side of the scrum and featured twice against Gloucester in the 2006/7 Heineken Cup.
2008-9 really saw him force his way into the Gloucester first team on a regular basis as he made 20 appearances in total and he continued that good form in 2009-10 earning Scotland selection in the Six Nations and for the summer tour of Argentina.
