Formerly part of the Newcastle Falcons Academy, tighthead Harden spent 2008-9 with National League 2 side Tynedale where he had spent time on loan.

The 23-year-old Australian-born prop mixed his youth between London, Rugby School and Cumbria and represented England Counties.

He caught the eye of the Gloucester coaching set up whilst playing against Cinderford.

Rupert benefitted from the club's dual registration scheme with Moseley in 2009-10 but also featured in the Gloucester Rugby first team squad on occasion and signed a new contract in Spring 2010.

Started to feature more and more frequently as the 2010-11 season progressed and was named by Carl Hogg as the most improved forward at the end of season awards dinner.

2011-12 saw Rupert establish himself as the first choice tight head and he earned England Saxons selection as well as signing a new contract with the club.

Rupert was again been a fixture at tight head throughout 2012-13 until suffering a season ending knee injury away at Bath.
