Jonny is one of the brightest prospects to have come through the Gloucester Rugby Academy in recent times.
Part of the successful Hartpury Rugby set up in 2008-9, he was been a regular feature in the A League side in 2009-10 and made an initial first team squad breakthrough in preseason scoring a memorable try against Connacht.
Jonny was selected for the England U20s squad that competed in the 2010 Six Nations and was chosen for the Junior World Cup squad for the tournament in Argentina.
Jonny continued to make big strides in 2010-11, including scoring a hat trick against Rovigo in the Amlin Challenge Cup, and signed a new contract in spring 2011.
2011-12 has arguably been a breakthrough season for Jonny as he has become a first team regular, been selected for the England Saxons and won the LV= Breakthrough Player and Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for January awards.
2012-13 got off to an unfortunate start, as a niggling knee injury sidelined him for several months.
However, spring saw him return in style and quickly return to try scoring form with 10 tries in 11 games.
