Premiership Rugby Cup tie against Bath Rugby at the Rec is postponed
1 February 2019
The adverse weather experienced in the West Country over the past 24 hours has taken its toll and forced the postponement of Saturday’s Premiership Rugby Cup tie away at Bath Rugby.
A statement from Bath Rugby reads as follows:
Following an earlier update, we regret to announce that our Premiership Rugby Cup match against Gloucester Rugby scheduled for tomorrow at 14:30 is being been postponed.
Despite huge efforts from our grounds team, it has not been possible to clear the volume of snow currently covering the pitch without causing substantial damage to the playing surface below.
We know this will be disappointing news for those planning to attend and we are working hard to reschedule the match.
Our preference is to move the fixture to Sunday 3rd February at 14:30 and we are doing all that we can to make this happen. However, it is most likely that the fixture will need to be played on Monday 4th February at 19:45.
This is not a decision we are taking lightly and we are doing all that we can to get our pitch ready for this game. Our team of highly experienced groundsmen are working closely with our operations team and Premiership Rugby and a decision will be made at 10am tomorrow regarding the rescheduling.
Thank you for your understanding and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
We will make an announcement regarding the rescheduling of the game and what you need to do if you are unable to attend tomorrow at 10am.
