Located in the heart of Gloucester Rugby’s Kingsholm Stadium, the ‘Try Centre’ is home to numerous Community Education programmes. It is a dedicated education centre that utilises the environment and medium of sport to help children and young people.
The core objective is to develop young peoples’ confidence and motivation to learn. This is achieved by focusing on a skills-based approach to engage students through a wide range of multi-sensory approaches instilling a sense of fun, enthusiasm and positivity for learning.
The ‘Try Centre’ is open to and will benefit students of all levels of ability. Lessons can support learning across many curriculum areas including Maths, English, History, Geography, Citizenship, ICT, Sport as well as Art & Design for both primary and secondary aged learners.
We offer intervention programmes that are designed to assist schools with raising attainment levels.
These interventions provide support to students who may be currently, or are at risk of disengaging from learning and education.
Equally students who may lack confidence or have low self-esteem can benefit from these activities to promote the qualities of resilience, social and emotional skills, increased self-esteem and passion for learning and education.
We offer a set range of workshops, but can also cater for bespoke packages tailored to the individual needs of each group. The Community Education department aim to keep fees to a minimum. Schools may consider subsidising the costs by way of using the sport and/or pupil premium.
