England Head Coach, John Mitchell, has named the first Red Roses squad of the 2024/25 season, with 11 Gloucester-Hartpury players involved in the 40-player squad.

Georgia Brock and Steph Else are amongst the uncapped Gloucester-Hartpury players selected in the squad will be looking to make their first Red Roses appearances this year. Their inclusions at international level are well-deserved after excellent seasons with Gloucester-Hartpury.

Mackenzie Carson and Maud Muir are picked in the front row. The combination of Muir and Carson at prop proved to be a formidable combination during this years' Six Nations, as well as Gloucester-Hartpury's victorious 2023/24 Allianz PWR campaign.

Zoe Aldcroft is selected in the locks and will be looking to build on her excellent run of form since returning to action in March after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Alex Matthews joins Brock and Else in the backrow. She was one of England's standout players in this years' Six Nations, winning Player of the Match in the Grand Slam decider against France. Head Coach, John Mitchell, will be hoping to see more of the same from the versatile forward.

In the backs, Natasha 'Mo' Hunt, Tatyana Heard, and Emma Sing are named after outstanding individual seasons with Gloucester-Hartpury.

Sarah Beckett and Mia Venner will attend the first two days of camp before continuing their rehabilitation at Gloucester-Hartpury.

John Mitchell’s side ended a successful 2023/24 campaign by earning a third consecutive Guinness Women’s Six Nations Grand Slam in April, adding to the inaugural WXV 1 title secured in New Zealand six months previous.

England will spend five weeks as a collective before attacking the challenge of Six Nations runners-up France and World Champions New Zealand in September.

The squad then head out to Canada for WXV 1 where they will face the hosts, USA and the Black Ferns once again.

Head Coach Mitchell said: “Our first camp of 2024/25 allows us to reset what we stand for and how we will carry ourselves as Red Roses moving forward.

“Our game is working, and we have an opportunity to dial it up again. There is a massive amount of room to improve individually and evolve our game over the next five weeks.”
