The adverse weather conditions meant that it was an eventful round two of the Six Nations, and there was plenty of interest from a Gloucester Rugby perspective.

It all started on Friday evening with two U20s fixtures. George Barton and Josh Gray were both used as second-half replacements as England made it two from two with a hard-fought 21-17 victory over Scotland at Myreside.

England led 14-10 at the break, scoring two converted tries through Theo Dan and Freddie Steward, with Scotland crossing via Ewan Ashman while Nathan Chamberlain kicked five points for his side.

Scotland were awarded a second-half penalty try, but Connor Doherty’s late try won the game for England.

Meanwhile, Stephen Varney once again caught the eye for Italy as he scored a first half try for Azzuri against France.

Italy started well, scoring three tries in the opening half hour, but they were never quite able to shake off a determined French side who scored two late tries to secure a 31-19 bonus point win.

Saturday saw three Gloucester Rugby players set for duty, but it proved to be a day of mixed fortunes.

Owen Williams was hoping to win his first international cap for Wales since the autumn of 2017, but had to withdraw in the warm-up due to a tight hamstring.

At Murrayfield, Scotland hosted England with the Calcutta Cup at stake, and it’s fair to say that conditions ensured that it was one for the purists.

Willi Heinz started for England while Chris Harris was a second half replacement for Huw Jones as the visitors edged a tight encounter by 13 points to 6.

Finally, Callum Braley and Jake Polledri were both on duty for Italy in France as the home nation secured their second home win of the tournament by 35 points to 22 despite a much improved performance by the Italians.
