Gloucester Rugby defence coach Dom Waldouck has challenged the players to pick up where they left off in the Premiership Rugby Cup when they welcome Bristol bears to Kingsholm on Saturday (3pm KO).

"We've had some good results in the Prem Cup already and we are really excited by this group of players.

There's some young, hungry guys that are eager to push forward, and some guys who have had less game time than they would have wanted, so we are excited to see them go on Saturday."

Waldouck is proud to see how players have progressed from the Premiership Cup this year into the league and is looking forward to giuiding the next players into making those steps.

"Trevor Woodman said in the meeting this morning that this is the stepping stone for the boys that want to play Premiership rugby.

"It's brilliant to see so many guys taking that journey. Jack Reeves, Harry Taylor, these guys are showing how you make that transition and that's the challenge for a lot of these guys."

No matter the competition, it's always a fierce battle when our West Country rivals visit Kingsholm, and Waldouck insists this fixture will be no different.

"They are huge occasions these tribal battles. Rugby is a physical game and that really brings the most out of these rivalries."

Gloucester Rugby were defeated in the Gallagher Premiership last weekend by Newcastle, Waldouck, although disappointed by the defeat, insisted their were still positives to take from the game.

"It was a disappointing result. We were off one or two percent in all areas and Falcons were really on it.

"There were some good things that came out of the game. I thought we got into our attacking formation well and created chances, we just didn't convert them so that's something to work on."
