Gloucester Rugby has strengthened its academy and development team with the announcement that Gareth Delve has been appointed Academy Manager.

Delve is no stranger to Kingsholm, having joined the club in 2007 from West Country rivals Bath. The Welshman captained the club in 2009, making 56 appearances for the Cherry and Whites, before heading down under to play for Melbourne Rebels in the Super Rugby competition.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having been capped 11 times for Wales between 2006 and 2010. As well as tasting the Super Rugby with Melbourne Rebels, Gareth also experienced life in Japan playing for NEC Green Rockets.

Since retirement, Delve has taken his first steps into coaching. He took on the role of team manager at Bristol Bears in 2017 and has also been working as an assistant coach at Thornbury RFC in Gloucestershire.
