Gloucester-Hartpury returned to winning ways on Saturday with a bonus point victory against DMP Sharks in Darlington.

Sean Lynn's side suffered their first defeat of the season a week previous when Saracens ended their ten-game winning run at Kingsholm.

But the Cherry & Whites responded in the perfect way with a 0-60 win at the Darlington Arena.

Gloucester-Hartpury had the bonus point wrapped up in the first half thanks to tries from Pip Hendy, Sophie Bridger, Steph Else and Connie Powell.

Lleucu George continued her impressive season with three conversions out of four.

And the second-half continued in the same fashion with tries from Bianca Blackburn, Mia Venner (x2), Lizzie Goulden and Mo Hunt.

With the clock in red, Powell added her brace and even knocked over the conversion herself to secure the 60-point winning margin.

Backs and attack coach, Andrew Ford, was pleased with both the result and performance.

“I thought the girls were outstanding today.

"It’s never easy to come up here but the girls really came out firing and put in a performance we were proud of."

The Gloucester-Hartpury coaching staff had made a number of changes from last week's defeat to Saracens, and Ford says they have been impressed by the young girls who stepped up to fill the shoes of some more experienced players.

“It’s always great to give these young girls an opportunity.

"Our pathway has been outstanding for us, especially when we had our World Cup girls away, and it’s nice to see them out here. Our bench also really put a marker down today.”

The Cherry & Whites return to the Alpas Arena next weekend when they welcome University of Worcester Warriors in what Ford expects to be another challenging encounter.

“We can still take learnings from today. Worcester are another team that fights for 80 minutes, so we have to look at our detail in the week and fly into that fixture.”
