Gloucester Rugby secured a 22-14 win over Worcester Warriors in Round 11 of the Gallagher Premiership at Kingsholm on Saturday.

What happened?

It was a scrappy first half for Gloucester Rugby who struggled to get into the game early on. The Cherry and Whites were making handling errors and struggled to get any go forward in attack.

Worcester were by far the better side and got on the scoreboard through a Nick David try in the first minute after he carved through the defence with relative ease. Jamie Shillcock slotted the conversion to give the visitors the full seven-point lead.

However, just before the end of the first half, Gloucester Rugby started to build some momentum and won a string of penalties. After going for the lineout, Billy Twelvetrees received the ball and wrestled his way over the line to get the Cherry and Whites on the scoreboard just before half time.

Worcester came out of the blocks well again in the second half and scored a penalty try after Gloucester Rugby were deemed to have deliberately collapsed the maul which also led to a Fraser Balmain yellow card.

However, Gloucester Rugby stayed in the fight and scored two tries in quick succession as Matias Alemanno found his way to the try line and Tom Seabrook capitalised on a Worcester error for the Cherry and Whites’ third.

Worcester looked very threatening and Gloucester Rugby were dealt a blow after Jordy Reid was yellow carded for a high tackle.

George Barton calmed any nerves with an accurate penalty from the tee it still felt that Worcester were able of launching a comeback.

With just a few minutes on the clock it looked like the visitors might have found a way back in after Santiago Carreras went to intercept a pass but knocked the ball on. After much TMO consultation, it was decided that a penalty try was not an appropriate punishment, but the Argentinian was still yellow carded for the offence.

Down to 14 men again, Gloucester Rugby managed to hold on and ultimately beat Worcester 22-14 at Kingsholm.

Key moment – Tom Seabrook try

Gloucester Rugby took the lead when Tom Seabrook rocketed his way over the line to score a try. A Worcester error led to Lewis Ludlow kicking the ball through for Seabrook to collect and dot down.

Gloucester Rugby are back in action next weekend when they travel to Wasps for Round 12 of the Gallagher Premiership.
