Gloucester Rugby can confirm that Academy duo Josh Gray and Toby Venner will join Jersey Reds for the 2022-23 season.

Gray spent the duration of the 2021-22 season earning valuable game time on-loan at Hartpury RFC and will now experience the Championship in a different environment with the Jersey Reds. Gray has signed a year-long loan agreement at the Stade Santander International and will return to the Cherry & Whites next summer.

Scrum-half Venner also spent the majority of the season with Hartpury RFC before heading to Bristol Bears on a short-term loan deal. However, an injury setback early on in his time at the Bears ended the 24-year-old’s season prematurely.

Venner will link up with the Jersey Reds on a permanent deal for the 2022-23 as he looks to bounce back from his injury.

“Toby is a player we have great admiration for as well. His injury came at a difficult time for him, but we know he will be keen to get back on track as soon as possible and we will be monitoring his progress over the course of the season.”
