Gloucester-Hartpury can guarantee a home Premier 15s semi-final with victory over Harlequins at Kingsholm on Sunday. Maud Muir is expecting an exciting game when the league leaders welcome fifth place to Holm.

“Harlequins will always bring their best shot against us. They’re going to play wide but they also have some powerful forwards, so they have it all, but we’re confident we can control them.”

Muir says that close fixtures can only be good for the women’s game.

“You want every game to be competitive and that’s what is going to keep driving women’s rugby forward, so we’re really looking forward to a tough test this weekend.”

Muir is excited to be back at Kingsholm and hopes the supporters turn out in numbers as Gloucester-Hartpury hunt a first-ever Premier 15s title.

“I’m really excited to play at Kingsholm on Sunday. It’s a big game and hopefully, we get a big crowd in too.

“With Gloucester Rugby’s season over hopefully the men's supporters will come down too to support us.”

The prop was one of several players to return from international duty last week and says it’s great to be back in Cherry & White.

“I’m buzzing to be back with the girls. We had a great training session yesterday and I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks.

“We really are like one big family. It’s so great to have all these different players playing for different international sides but all coming back in to be one Gloucester-Hartpury team. It’s really special.”

The 21-year-old believes the shared ambition of becoming the first Gloucester-Hartpury team to lift the Premier 15s trophy is what is keeping the group so together, and so motivated.

“I think we all have that one aim of reaching the Premier 15s final and winning that. So, we’re all working hard to drive to that.”

With a semi-final spot already confirmed, Muir says they’re trying to build confidence and consistency ahead of the playoffs.

“We want to build confidence going into the semi-final. We have the spot guaranteed but we also want to try new things and build every week and be consistent.”

“We want to win but we also want to win well and keep improving.”

Muir encourages fans to come down on Sunday in a crucial game for the Cherry & Whites.

“We play a really exciting game so come on down because it’s going to be a really good game.”
