Gloucester Rugby host Wasps on Saturday at Kingsholm and Cherry and White Head Coach George Skivington is looking forward to the Gallagher Premiership fixture.

On preparations for Wasps

“Preparations have been good. Obviously, we roll on our preparations from last week and the boys have got their plays down and so far, we’ve had a good couple of days training.

“We’re looking forward to it.”

On Wasps’ threats

“They had a good result against Newcastle. A tight game but they battled through and won it. It’s not that long ago that they were in a final. They are a good outfit and they’ve got some good coaches and I think they are a real threat.

“From our point of view, we are focused on ourselves. We know the bits we’ve got to push hard on and the bits we’ve got to work on and we’re focused on getting right what we can and obviously nullifying Wasps’ threats.”

On the challenge of two games in one week

“It’s relatively easy to prepare for two games. We don’t stray away too much from what we do week to week. The Prem Cup team were preparing alongside the first team so we haven’t scuppered preparations either way.

“We learnt a few lessons about that over Christmas when we had three games in a week and we learnt how to balance things there and we made a couple of mistakes which we were quite honest about.

“Preparations haven’t really changed. The boys are focused on playing against Wasps.”

On playing at Kingsholm

“It’s massively special and we were gutted that we didn’t get that last week. The boys were raring to go but it’ll be really special this Saturday.

“We haven’t been here in what feels like forever so we’re really excited to get back here and hopefully everyone gets here and screams loud and the boys will give you all something to be proud of.”
